Fish farming short course

A short course on fish farming, a training for farmers from the 20th to the 24th of September 2021 and from 27th September to 1st October 2021, at Solwezi Lodge in Solwezi District. The training will equip the farmers with information on:

  • how to start a fish farm
  • good aquaculture practices
  • sources of fish contamination
  • public health importance of diseases derived from fish
  • fish-borne, human diseases
  • how to preserve fish
  • Understand autolysis and putrefaction of fish

Applied bioinformatics short course

A short course in applied bioinformatics for MSc students from 7th to 11th November 2022 at Twangale Park in Chilanga District.

By the end of the training, the Ph.D. students will be expected to use modern genetic methods in surveillance, outbreak investigations, and research relevant to public health, food safety, and veterinary medicine. 20 students attended this course


A short course for beginners in omics and bioinformatics from 29th July to 2nd August 2019 This course was co-hosted by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The facilitators of this course were from the Old Dominion University 40 students attended this course.
